Mohammad Fahim Zaheer

Bio

Following several years of working for CARE, UNHCR and FAO, Fahim Zaheer started as the USGS Agromet project lead in April 2005. He was promoted to USGS chief liaison in Afghanistan in January 2007, where he represented USGS until November 24, 2014. On November 25, 2014, he started as FEWS NET country representative in Afghanistan; on 1st January 2020, he was promoted to Regional Representative for the Rest of World region covering Afghanistan and Yemen. He ended his long journey of 8 years with FEWS NET/Chemonics at the end of 2022.

 
Starting January 2023, Fahim joined CHC/UCSB as Regional Scientist to support the great project of “The Enhancing Meteorological Networks Partnership (EMNP).” He will be contributing to the FEWS NET food security analysis in Afghanistan and Central Asia, covering the Agro-climate-related portion of the analysis.
 
Fahim was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, on the 19 th of July in 1975. He is married and the father of seven children, 23, 31, 15, 12, 8, 3, and one-year-old. He has a master’s degree in Business Administration from the International School of Business Administration (ISBM) in India with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Kabul University in Afghanistan.
