The Decision Support Interface (DSI) represents a joint initiative by EROS Data Center and UCSB to provide decision-makers with a one-stop overview of rainfall conditions in crop growing areas of Africa. The work is based on assigning a Drought Severity Classification to conditions on a variety of timescales and then blending these classes to create a value capturing the current conditions. Currently, initial versions are undergoing testing and verification with feedback from scientists in the field. However, Greg Husak is working on a web interface that should be available to the public soon.
Below is a screenshot of test data for Southern Africa showing preliminary data for February 2007.
